Track repairs in Wicklow

Mountain Meitheal is calling on all volunteers to come out on Sunday, February 27th at Knockree in Glencree, where they will recommence their project work. Mountain Meitheal will provide all tools, gloves, instruction and supervision on the day. People should come prepared for a day on the hills, although they are advised to wear old clothes as the work is dirty but very enjoyable and a certain satisfaction is derived from giving something back to the upland environment. More details are available on pathsavers.org.

Nordic Walking

Nordic Walking has become hugely popular and group classes continue to take place in the fields and woods of Kilruddery Estate, just outside Bray, Co Wicklow. Classes last an hour and a quarter and cost €8. People can learn the technique alongside those who have already had some classes, which provides a very sociable way to keep fit. By extension, those who have had some classes and have a reasonable level of fitness can join in a walking group on Saturday afternoons. Typically, walks last two to four hours and cost €8. Poles will be supplied for both classes and walking groups. Contact Dairine Nuttall (a qualified Nordic Walking instructor) at 086-1936861 or e-mail dnuttall@eircom.net.
