Film festival For more movies than you can possibly handle, the Times BFI 52nd London Film Festival is all you'll need. Expect previews of award-winning films and lots of actors on promotional duty. Various venues and times. October 15th- 30th. www.bfi.org.uk.

Music To coincide with Q magazine's annual awards, a series of gigs takes place at the Forum in Kentish Town: Keane (September 29th), Bloc Party (September 30th), Sugababes (October 1st) and Razorlight (October 2nd). www.q4music.com.

Exhibition One of the greats of contemporary visual art, Mark Rothko, has an eponymous exhibition at Tate Modern. September 26th to February 1st. www.tate.org.uk.

Amsterdam

Photography The Hyena & Other Men is a photographic exhibition that looks at South African street sellers, who make money performing with animals. Foam, Keizersgracht 609 1017. Until November 2nd. www.foam.nl.

Salzburg

Jazz The 13th Salzburg Jazz Festival, which runs from October 30th to November 9th, is bookended with concerts by the Brad Mehldau Trio (above, October 31st) and Chick Corea and John McLaughlin's Five Peace Band (November 9th). www.jazz4you.at.

Classical The Bach Festival comes to Salzburg for the first time, honouring the connections between the city and the composer with almost 60 symposiums, concerts and readings.
