For a spot of high brow X Factor entertainment, head along to the semi-final of the sixth Veronica Dunne International Singing Competition at the National Concert Hall tomorrow.
More than 70 singers from as far afield as Korea and Australia have been whittled down since Thursday, by some of the world’s leading opera experts, to stake their claim to the prestigious prize named after Ireland’s grand dame of opera, Veronica Dunne. It all culminates in a grand final where just six talented singers compete for the top prize of €10,000, supported by the RTÉ National Symphony Orchestra under the baton of Laurent Wagner.
Tickets for the semi-final in the Kevin Barry Room cost €5, while the final, on Tuesday, takes place in the main auditorium at 8pm. Tickets €25. Tel: 01-4170000, nch.ie.
