The Kilkenny-based goldsmith Des Doyle recently won a place in the professional jewellers “Hot One Hundred” in London, an award that recognises up-and-coming names in fine jewellery. Doyle, who sees himself as a designer working in luxury materials, produces collections in 18ct gold with diamonds and other precious stones. A rigorous apprenticeship in Germany followed his training in the UK, and prodigious attention to tiny details is a mark of his style. He operates from a small studio at his home in Kilkenny, but his work can be found in Dublin in Stonechat Jewellers in the Westbury Mall.

These delicate diamond and ruby-set double drop necklaces are €850 each at Stonechat, or online at stonechatjewellers.ie.
