OPEL HAS confirmed its new city car will be called Adam. The new car, which had been christened ’Junior’ during its development, will be unveiled at the Paris motor show in September and go on sale early next year.
More than just a new entry to the city car ranks, this is Opel’s response to models like the Mini and Fiat 500, which have added some charm and character to the city car segment. The firm is eager to be seen as more than just a functional and mainstream carmaker. As a result Opel is eager that the new car will be easy to personalise, with a host of options.
Beneath the new exterior is Opel’s new small car platform that will also feature in the next-generation Corsa. The engine range is expected to feature both petrol and diesel three-cylinder powertrains but an all-electric version is also in the pipeline. Yesterday the firm released this official “spy” photograph of the car.
