Visitors to west Cork this Bank Holiday weekend can view hundreds of paintings in Morgan O'Driscoll auctioneers' saleroom at Ilen Street, Skibbereen. But anyone wishing to buy will have to bid via the internet (morganodriscoll.com) as this "Off The Wall" auction is online only. Bidding has commenced and will end between 6.30pm and 10.15pm on Tuesday evening (August 5th).
Most of the 299 lots are in the "affordable art" category with many estimates under €1,000. Estimates range from€ 300- 400 for St Patrick's Hill, Cork by John Morris to €5,000-€7,000 for the top lot, Figure In A Landscape by Daniel O'Neill. Other many other artists represented include Aidan Bradley, Stephen Cullen, David Ffrench Le Roy, John Kingerlee, Liam Kelly, Harry Kernoff, Gladys Maccabe, Geraldine O'Brien, Tony O'Malley, Ivan Sutton and Kenneth Webb.
Some of the lots are being sold to help fund a new West Cork Arts Centre in Skibbereen.
