Crafty Co Wexford

A new craft trail of south Wexford was launched recently in Kelly’s Hotel, Rosslare. The trail invites visitors to take “the roads less travelled” and visit the studios of rug-makers, weavers, potters and furniture makers from Fethard-on-Sea to Wexford town. Some studios belong to families who have deep roots in the locality, while others belong to those who moved here, inspired by the wild shoreline and textured farmland of the area.

Drop into Martin Doyle’s goldsmith workshop on Lower Rowe Street in Wexford town, arrange a tour of Ceadogán Rugs showrooms (above), situated in restored 18th-century farm buildings overlooking Bannow Bay, contact Patricia Howard to participate in one of her pottery workshops, or plan a weekend in south Wexford and follow the trail to visit all 10 studios. Maps of the South Wexford Craft Trail are available in hotels and tourist outlets in the area or by post by e-mailing ceadogan@eircom.net.
