In an adventurous move, designer Peter O’Brien is shifting his attention from cloth to crystal. His new china and glass collection, a collaboration with Tipperary Crystal, will be launched tomorrow at the Showcase event in Dublin.

Encouraged by its success with artist Graham Knuttel, Tipperary approached O’Brien with the idea of applying his skills to another format. The result? Four collections of glassware with couture names such as Plisse (pleated), Garreaux (check) and Rayure (striped) and a dinner service in fine bone china inspired by the patterns of crochet lace, which includes dinner and salad plates, bread dish, soup bowl, teapot, sugar dish and creamer. There’s also a tumbler candle range with six different fragrances.
