This week two wines from SuperValu. If you haven’t already decided what to serve on Christmas Day, both of these are worth considering. The albariño would be ideal with smoked salmon or prawns, but it has sufficient richness to partner turkey and all the trimmings. Ripasso is a richer style of red wine made in the Valpolicella region of Italy.
Abellio Albariño 2022 Rías Baixas
Abv 12.5%, €12 down from €17
Vibrant and fresh with mouth-watering pear and peach fruits, finishing dry. A nice aperitif, but also a good option for your Christmas dinner. Vegetarians could try it with cauliflower cheese or roasted root vegetables.

Sartori Valpolicella Ripasso 2020
Abv 13.5%. €12 down from €17.99
Medium to full-bodied with generous red cherry fruits, a touch of spice and a smooth finish. Enjoy with red or white meats (including turkey) and firm cheeses. It would also go nicely with a nut roast.
