It hasn’t taken Taylor Swift long to graduate from greenhorn country singer (she moved to Nashville at the age of 14) to one of the most successful pop stars of the past five years. Swift’s country background of narrative songwriting has benefited her tremendously – she is easily the best female pop-song storyteller of her generation.

Maggie Madden: Field; Marie Farrington: In Good Faith They Waited for Gravity
Rua Red, Tallaght, Dublin Until Jul 18
ruared.ie

Maggie Madden's Field is a linear installation that snakes its way through Rua Red's big main gallery. It's fragile and vulnerable, and then you realise that it has colonised the space, echoing the way suburbanisation has quietly eaten into the rural terrain in the real world outside, though the social fabric is still delicate. Fragility is also relevant to Marie Farrington's sculptures, which explore how we imbue objects and materials with meaning.
