Ah, Baz! 50 Ways to Kill Your Mammy wins Emmy

Sky 1’s 50 Ways to Kill Your Mammy was a winner at the 2015 International Emmys last night, picking up the award for Best Non-Scripted Entertainment

The mother-son adventure series, starring Baz Ashmawy and his 71 year old mother Nancy, has been a huge success not only in Ireland and the UK, but also the rest of the world, having been acquired by broadcasters in over 100 territories. From sky diving to alligator wrangling, Baz, Nancy and the viewers have been taken on a unique adventure, experiencing the endearing relationship between a brave Irish mammy and her daredevil only son.

50 Ways to Kill Your Mammy is the second Sky-commissioned programme to win at the Emmys, following another Irish Sky 1 series, Moone Boy - by Chris O’Dowd and Nick Vincent Murphy - winning the 2013 International Emmy for Best Comedy. And it’s only the third ever Irish win at the International Emmys.

Baz Ashmawy said, “The journey with my mum has been the best experience ever and Sky are so safety conscience its great but I really thought we’d killed her tonight when they called out fifty ways as the winner. Thanks for all the support!”

Adam MacDonald, Director of Sky 1, said “It is so wonderful to see the international TV industry fall in love with 50 Ways to Kill Your Mammy just like our customers did In Ireland and the U.K. Huge well done to Baz, Nancy, Siobhan, Celia, Clive and the rest of the Mammy family!”
