July 7th, Garvaghy Road, Portadown: The traditional parade to and from Drumcree Church turned into a three day siege last year, and the scene is set for a repeat tomorrow.

July 8th, Bellaghy, Co Derry: The "mini Twelfth" parade in Bellaghy erupted in rioting last year. Next Monday's is the biggest of a series of marches which have caused a lot of tension in the mainly nationalist town. There are hopes that improved marshalling will prevent a recurrence of trouble.

July 12th, Lower Ormeau Road, Belfast: The Ballinafeigh Orange Order's parade to Belfast city centre via the Ormeau Road is opposed by the Lower Ormeau's mainly nationalist population. The route passes the Sean Graham bookbakers' shop where five men here murdered by loyalists in 1992, and protesters have accused Orange marchers of provocative behaviour when passing the site.

The area was the scene of serious rioting last Easter, after the RUC prevented an Apprentice Boys' march from passing down the road. The Orange Order says it intends to march on the route but the Lower Ormeau Residents Action Group says it will seek an injunction to prevent it.

August 10th, Ormeau Road, Belfast, and Derry: A section of Belfast Apprentice Boys traditionally marches down the Lower Ormeau Road en route to the main celebrations in Derry. Violence broke out last year when the RUC moved to clear nationalist protesters and at least one person was seriously wounded by a plastic bullet.

In Derry, the Apprentice Boys' annual parade along the city walls has traditionally provoked some disturbances, particularly near the section which overlooks the nationalist Bogside. These were muted last year, when police forcibly removed protesters who occupied the wall from the night before. The march will be opposed again this year.

August/September: At least four other marches by the Orange Order and the Royal Black Preceptory are expected to include Belfast's Lower Ormeau Road.
