Auctioneer Denis Drum has a busy week coming up, with two auctions scheduled within the next seven days. The first of these, on Thursday at 7 p.m. on his premises in Malahide, is the usual monthly sale. Among the items of particular note is a Persian Herat carpet, measuring nine ft by 12 ft, with dominant ox-blood and beige tunes; this is expected to make £1,000-£1,500.
A Victorian mahogany mirror-backed chiffonier should sell for £800-£1,000, a pine dresser is expected to make £500-£600 and a two-door carved pine corner cabinet has an estimate of £500.
Two days later, Drums will be conducting a contents sale at 2 St John's Road in Sandymount from 2 p.m. onwards. Best items here include a Georgian knee-hole desk (estimate £1,000-£1,500) and a heavily-carved Victorian-style four-poster bed (£1,500-£2,000).
