Liima – ii: moments that stick, from Tatu Rönkkö and the Efterklang three

The connections between Liima and Efterklang run deep, with three of the Danish band joining Finnish percussionist Tatu Rönkkö, who used to occasionally play with them for live shows, in this new line-up.

The sound, though, is not what folks may associate with Efterklang.

Here, the fulcrum is the groove, the beautifully applied layers of pulses and rhythms marking out a hinterland with room for jazz, electronica, pop, experimental and more exotic hues.

Recorded over a few days in Berlin, ii teases action-packed jams into songs full of supple, beguiling attractions.

Be it the colourful expanses covered on Amerika or the lovely patterns toyed with on Your Heart, Liima create moments that stick.

The name comes from the Finnish word for glue, apt when you consider how the matching and patching here gels so well.
