Kaytranada - 99.9%: disco, soul, house and hip-hop brilliance

There’s a lot more to relish to Kaytranada’s debut album than just the addictive video game he used to plug the release.

While the Haitian-Canadian producer had already created a buzz with a run of giddy house and disco tracks, 99.9% indicates that we're dealing with a serious talent keen to push and pull at the parameters of this sound.

Aided by Anderson .Paak, Karriem Riggins, AlunaGeorge, Vic Mensa, Little Dragon, BadBadNotGood and others, Kaytranada's debut has an infectious bop and flow from tip to toe.

His guests sing and rap over exuberant slates of disco, soul, house and hip-hop, all put together with beautifully emotional piping. Glowed Up, with .Paak, is a track of high moods and likeable showmanship from two peers very much in lockstep with each other.

Dude really deserves that extra 0.1 per cent.
