The final touches have been added to the line-up for the Other Voices festival, which takes place in the glorious surroundings of Dingle, Co Kerry this weekend. Little Simz, Ane Brun, Mahalia and Shakey Graves will join headliners Low, Gavin James, Jack Garratt and The Academic for two days of musical magic on the Wild Atlantic Way.
Simbi Ajikawo, better known as Little Simz, is an English singer and rapper who has been tipped by such hip-hop superstars as Kendrick Lamar and Jay Z. Her debut album, A Curious Tale of Trials + Persons, is out now. The Norwegian songwriter, guitarist and vocalist Ane Brun – who released her sixth studio album When I'm Free earlier this year – joins the Other Voices line-up for the first time, while talented teenager Mahalia, who has opened for Ed Sheeran and played the Albert Hall in London, brings her brand of "psycho acoustic soul" to the mix.
As well as the regular concerts in the 800-year-old church of St James, the Kerry fishing town will be hosting a music trail featuring 45 new and established artists playing in unusual venues around Dingle. This year’s trail features David Kitt, Sorcha Ni Bhriain, Declan McLoughlin, My Tribe Your Tribe, Eve Belle, Mongoose, Hare Squead, Rusangano Family and many more.
The Imro Other Room at Other Voices will also have performances from Bitch Falcon, Gavin Glass, Hawk, Saint Sister, Talos and a viewers’ choice selection. Jim Carroll’s Banter discussion room will also be returning to Dingle.
All Music Trail and Banter events are free and open to the public over the weekend. The festival runs from December 4th to December 6th.
