Two lectures are scheduled for central Dublin next Tuesday evening and the difficulty for many readers will be choosing which to attend.

At 6 p.m., Mary Reilly will be speaking in the Central Catholic Library at 74 Merrion Square on the artist and priest Jack Hanlon, about whom she has written an MA thesis.

Also on Tuesday, at Buswell's Hotel, Molesworth Street, at 8 p.m., Denis Byrne and Kenneth Tughan of the Glass Society of Ireland will talk about important glass from the collection of the late John Bailey.

A large number of pieces from this collection were sold last summer, with £13,000 being bid for a Mary Carter "The Land We Live In" decanter.
