A SMALL collection of Irish paintings sold well at a Town & Country house auction" at 500 Howth Road last Sunday

A SMALL collection of Irish paintings sold well at a Town & Country house auction" at 500 Howth Road last Sunday. Maurice Wilkes's Spring Day, Strangford Lough, fetched £2,700 and his Peaceful Morning, Cushandin sold for £2,400.

A painting of the interior of Marsh's Library by Tom Ryan made £1,050 and Christchurch Cathedral by the same artist sold for £1,900. A sum of £2,800 was paid for Fergus O'Ryan's view of the canal at Mount Street.

Among the furniture lots a Regency style mahogany dining suite - a table and eight brass inlaid chairs - sold for £1,020; a 19th century mahogany slope front bureau fetched £880 and an Victorian gilded mirror made £800.
