Cowabunga dude! Yes, the voicework for CrossBoard 7 is infused with 1990s-era surf talk that has already divided gamers. Some consider it annoying, but I find it likeable – if not quite bodacious. With lively graphics and cute characters (à la Modnation Racers), Crossboard 7 is an endearing game. Arching and changing your stance, you negotiate your board through races on nicely rendered tracks and backgrounds. Lean forward to accelerate, arch to either side to turn and stamp your foot to use power-ups. The races take place on vertigo-inducing slopes of white water, snow and sand. This is an innocent, accessible game that's certainly playable, though I wish the controls were a more accurate and the gameplay less limited. Still, it's more fun than some recent skateboard and snowboard games.
