Sinn Fein's ardchomhairle has 41 members, including the party president, Mr Gerry Adams, its chairman Mr Mitchel McLaughlin, vice-president Mr Pat Doh erty and Mr Martin McGuinness.

Ardchomhairle members are drawn from all areas, though Dublin and the North are best represented with 13 and 12 members respectively. The only overseas member is Ms Rita O'Hare, who represents Washington.

The IRA's response to the governments' proposals is expected to reflect that delivered by the ardchomhairle.
