The introduction of a minimum wage in two years would lead to a reduction in the number of pupils finishing school, the president of the Chamber of Commerce of Ireland (CCI), Mr Philip O'Reilly, said yesterday.

Students would be lured from completing their Leaving Certs to jobs paying £3.08 for under-18s and £4.40 for over-18s after April 1st, 2000, he claimed.
