TRAVEL SOFTWARE company Datalex is on track to increase earnings this year, as it builds on progress made and new business won in 2010.

Despite pressures brought about by the economic environment on the airline industry, the Dublin-based company said it expected to deliver growth in both earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation (Ebidta) and cash for the year.

Datalex offers a retail distribution platform to travel-focused companies. It has signed up clients including Aer Lingus, United Airlines and South African Airways. Earlier this year, it added Air China and Spanair to its client list, both of which went live in July.

Meanwhile, specialist airline IT provider SITA, which earlier this year began using the TDP platform to provide ancillary pricing and shopping for their customers, has extended its agreement with Datalex. It will use the platform for its e-commerce facilities, including air shopping and booking.

Deployment of the platform at Delta Air Lines began in August and is expected to go live in the second quarter of next year.

“This . . . confirms our place as one of the world’s leading providers of travel distribution software products,” the company said.

A further agreement was reached in September with an unnamed major North American carrier to deploy Datalex’s platform, which is expected to begin in the next couple of weeks.

“We are currently pursuing a number of additional opportunities and expect to secure two more new customers in Q4, which will bring the total number of new customer wins in 2011 to eight, and will mean that we will have doubled our customer base in the last 18 months,” Datalex said.
