A Sligo RTC graduate who helped secure an ISO 9002 quality award for the company employing him has won this year's Forbairt Techstart Technologist of the Year Award.

Mr Michael Maguire works at Galway Corrugated Cases (GCC), a company set up by Rehab, which makes boxes and packaging for pharmaceutical and food industries. The award of a trophy and £500 was presented by the Minister of State for Science, Technology and Commerce, Mr Noel Treacy. GCC will receive consultancy services from Forbairt valued at £2,000. Techstart is a Forbairt-managed programme which helps companies to employ young technical graduates.
