Skiing and scuba prove too rich for accountant's taste

COPY of Accountancy Ireland's April edition found its way across the Margin's desk this week. We read with interest a letter to the editor complaining of the quality of articles in recent editions.

The writer was incensed that articles on subjects such as skiing, scuba diving and country clubs had appeared in the official journal of the Institute of Chartered accountants in Ireland.

She went on to demand a return to journalism that is both stimulating and educational. (I have in mind the likes of Pat Barker's award inning article on FRS 3 for example)". The journal should "concentrate cot on what we like to do well but what we ought to do well", the writer maintained.

Who said accountants were boring?
