World oil prices clambered higher yesterday amid an escalating row between Iraq and the United Nations over weapons monitoring which showed no sign of any early resolution.

Iraq stoked markets with the announcement late last night it would not back down on a decision to bar US citizens from UN arms inspections teams in the country.

Dealers said prices might easily spiral further if the crisis looked likely to affect Iraqi oil supplies. - (Reuters)
