Senior NTL executives will meet telecoms regulator Ms Etain Doyle today to detail plans for the group's cable network following the firm's shock decision to put the introduction of digital TV on hold.

NTL's chief operating officer in the UK, Mr Stephen Carter, will travel to Dublin today to meet the regulator and is expected to clarify the group's strategy for the Republic.

It is believed the US firm is seeking to cut costs at its operation in the State, while simultaneously accelerating the introduction of digital television and broadband Internet services in the UK.
