A public relations professional described as “the face of Paramount Pictures in Ireland” has settled her High Court action aimed at preventing termination of her employment.

Anna Lavery, who has been Paramount’s head of publicity and promotions in Ireland for several years, initiated proceedings against Paramount Pictures Services UK and Paramount Pictures, D’Olier Street, Dublin, because she believed she faced the possibility of being made redundant.

Yesterday, counsel for Ms Lavery, of Admiral Court, Baldoyle, Co Dublin, told Ms Justice Mary Laffoy the matter had been resolved and could be struck out. No details were revealed.

Last month, Ms Lavery was given leave to serve short service of injunction proceedings against Paramount aimed at preventing her being removed from her job.

On that occasion, Paul McGarry SC, for Ms Lavery, said she had worked in the Irish film industry for more than 14 years and with Paramount since 2003, he said.

It was her case this was not a true redundancy and she was about to have her employment terminated, counsel said.
