Oireachtas gets fresh with #seeforyourself tweets

Same hashtag used by Pond’s wet wipes – so can the Oireachtas wash away impurities?

What does the Oireachtas have in common with wet facial wipes? They have both been using the hashtag "#seeforyourself" on Twitter.

The @OireachtasNews account has been attaching the tag of late to invitations to the public to visit the Houses of the Oireachtas and to a series of images of the interior. The more common use of the hashtag, however, is not in connection with the finer workings of Irish democracy, but with Pond's cleansing towelettes, a product designed to "wash away impurities".

Meanwhile, the Oireachtas is still in talks about getting its television channel on free-to-air platform Saorview, which is operated by RTÉ subsidiary 2rn.

“ RTÉ/2rn are seeking significant and in our view unsustainable carriage fees for the service,” says a spokeswoman.
