Mr Brendan Power, who was an Industrial Relations Officer (IRO) with the commission, has just been appointed as an industrial relations executive with the employer body. IROs are career civil servants and this is the first time one of them has left the commission to work for one of the "social partners".

IBEC's industrial director, Mr Turlough O'Sullivan, says the organisation is "very excited" about Mr Power's decision to join it. Mr Power has a good track record in resolving difficult disputes.
