Technology multinational Hewlett-Packard plans to consolidate its Clonskeagh and Leixlip facilities on a single site at the Liffey Park Technology Campus in Leixlip, Co Kildare.

The company said in a statement that "there will be no redundancies at HP Ireland as a result of the move".

HP is planning to redevelop its existing facility in Leixlip over the next year to create what it says will be one of the largest technology campuses in the country.

It is understood that just over 1,000 staff work at the Clonskeagh facility in Dublin and the majority of these will be asked to move to Leixlip.

HP's offices are in the Richview Business Park in Clonskeagh.

The company leases the building and will be retaining one floor for staff who are working on HP's technology outsourcing contract with Bank of Ireland.

"While this move will result in a period of change for some personnel, we are confident that over the longer term, the consolidation of the Clonskeagh and Leixlip facilities will enable us to continue to grow our business profitably by achieving cost savings," said Martin Murphy, managing director of HP Ireland.

HP's global chief executive Mark Hurd is seeking to reduce the tech giant's costs by €1 billion a year.
