Yesterday's business website poll asked: Has the Government got its aviation policy right? Your verdict

Your reaction... YES 19 per cent: NO 81 per cent.

They are going for a compromise in the hope it will please most people. It won't work though - it will just annoy both sides.

Aer Lingus should be sold before there's another crisis in aviation (which happens every couple of years), and they come looking for more of the taxpayers' money. As for Dublin airport, it is in shambles - and the Government will leave it in the hands of the guys who got it into the current mess.

No. As far as Dublin airport is concerned, the infrastructure is not there to handle many more passengers irrespective of the number of new terminals. The answer lies in diverting some of the midlands and western traffic to Shannon and some of the southern and south-eastern traffic to Cork.

In the case of Aer Lingus, does the Government have to sell the citizens' property to these "brilliant" entrepreneurs waiting in the wings. I and many other Irish citizens want a reliable airline with a good service. If there are others out there who want to run a "competitive" airline let them set up one of their own. Taxpayers will not thank Government for selling off assets on the cheap.

The decision to privatise Aer Lingus is good. It shows realism about Aer Lingus, which is now an unimportant player. Ryanair is now our national airline, with a business many times the size of Aer Lingus.
