One of the first email services for Irish farmers has been introduced by Progressive Genetics, Ireland's milk recording service provider. Farmers can electronically receive the milk recording results showing the performance of each of their cows. By using the email service, farmers can reduce waiting times for results by up to three working days. Currently, 2,200 farmers are milk recording through Progressive's monthly recording scheme. Through this service they can quickly identify if a cow is underperforming. They can also identify when somatic cell counts are high and take action to ensure they are not penalised in terms of their milk cheques.

The milk recording results can be emailed free to all Progressive Genetics milk recording customers once they have a PC and corresponding farm management software. Farmers can receive more information or send their email address to Robert Ryan at milkrec@progressivegenetics.ie or by telephone at 01450 2142.
