Mr Andrew David, chairman of Coca Cola HBC, the second largest company in the Coca-Cola group, has died

Mr Andrew David, chairman of Coca Cola HBC, the second largest company in the Coca-Cola group, has died. Mr Andrew was born in Petra, Cyprus in 1934 and graduated from Trinity College, Dublin.

In 1981, he acquired the Hellenic Bottling Company in Greece. Following a series of acquisitions, the company extended operations to encompass bottling plants in 11 countries, including Ireland. Coca Cola HBC was created following the merger of Coca Cola Beverages and Hellenic Bottling.

Coca Cola HBC owns a plant in the Republic and in the North which respectively employ 560 and 330 people.
