Changing faces as brokers move jobs in run-up to EMU

THE stockbroking merry-go-round continues

THE stockbroking merry-go-round continues. The latest mover is Oliver Mangan, who is switching from Davys, where he worked as number two to Jim O'Leary, to lead Goodbody Stockbrokers' economics team. He replaces Han de Jong, who is going back to his native the Netherlands to work with ABN Amro as group head of international bond research. The word around town is that Mayo-Meath rivalry will take on a new intensity in the bond markets, with Mr Mangan representing the west and Mr O'Leary resident in the Royal County.

Mr de Jong had an interesting commentary on the relevance of the Irish market post-EMU, in an interview with Dow Jones. "The bank had put in a very good offer, and I had to decide whether to stay in Ireland and face the prospect of my becoming marginalised in just over a year's time."

With the EMU area set to become one big bond market post-EMU, the question must be whether there will be room in Dublin for the six market-makers?
