CeBIT a bit too technical for some

CeBIT, the annual technology industry love-in, takes place this week in Hannover

CeBIT, the annual technology industry love-in, takes place this week in Hannover. This is strictly an event for the dyed-in-the-wool technophile.

The big draw for enthusiasts is the stream of regular announcements by exhibiting companies about breakthrough developments. Take the example of one Irish company which sought to share its exciting news with the media this week as follows: "New Raidtec FibreRAID HI (Host Independent) and PCI Controller brings 100 MB/sec/channel to systems with FC-AL compliant RAID arrays, including Raidtec's new FibreArray-12, a compact 12 bay enclosure that packs over 40 per cent more storage into the tower form factor. The controllers are high performance caching hardware RAID controllers that implement multiple concurrent virtual arrays-each supporting RAID levels 0, 1, 01, or 5. in either Host Independent Fibre Channel (FC) to FC and PCI configurations."

Who knows, it may also have previously unidentified potential as a revolutionary treatment for insomnia.
