The Government has approved a £3 million investment package for Galway Airport which will be spent on upgrading the 1,350-metre-long runway and extending it by 250 metres so that it can accommodate larger commercial aircraft. A spokeswoman for the operating company, Corrib Airport, stated yesterday that a third daily Galway-Dublin service would begin in April. Aer Lingus operates the airport's two daily return flights.
