National League Premier Division/ Bray Wanderers 1 UCD 1: UCD move ahead of Bohemians on goal difference but squandered an opportunity to put daylight between themselves and their city rivals after goalkeeper Darren Quigley unforgivably juggled Robbie Doyle's injury-time free over his line having initially blocked the strike.

It was a disappointing conclusion for the visitors who looked set for full points following an impressive display, the platform for which was provided by an impressive midfield quartet who afforded the locals limited possession.

Bray were hampered by a stiff first-half breeze and consequently their surges upfield were usually thwarted well before reaching the visitors' box but, that said, Doyle was always prepared to shoot from distance. First his strike from 25 yards went narrowly over and then, soon after, an attempted lob from the edge of the area was carried wide by the breeze.

The visitors, though, were more patient in their approach and found the left flank a particularly lucrative outlet. Derek Doyle tested Chris O'Connor with a well-struck shot having cut in off the wing, while striker Conor Sammon was a lively threat throughout and he forced the goalkeeper to tip a shot around his post shortly before the break.

Bray probed sporadically after the restart but were well suppressed in midfield. UCD, in turn, were always more assured and from a well-crafted move on the hour deservedly took the lead. After neat play from Stephen Hurley and Gary Dicker, Sammon raced through a porous home defence and, with time on his side, finished emphatically to the bottom right corner.

Doyle, though, rescued an unlikely point at the death by leaving Quigley red-faced and the travelling support enraged.
