No double treble for Barcelona, Marcus Rashford upsets Upton Park party and what to watch out for

Barcelona's reign as Champions League winners, and their lofty dreams of a double treble were last night ended by Atletico Madrid - as Diego Simeone's team turned around a first leg 2-1 deficit with a 2-0 win at the Calderon.

Progressing to the last four with them. after a 2-2 away draw with Benfica last night, is Bayern Munich. Pep Guardiola's team won the first leg 1-0.

There was FA Cup action last night too, as Manchester United upset West Ham's FA Cup party with a 2-1 quarter-final replay win in what was the final ever cup game at Upton Park. Marcus Rashford did his booming reputation no harm with a beautiful effort on 54 minutes, and while the home team had a late goal disallowed to force extra time it was a well deserved victory for a United team looking to end another dismal season on a high in the Cup.

In the night's sole Premier League fixture Everton's James McCarthy saw red in uneventful stalemate at Crystal Palace.

Tonight Jurgen Klopp's Liverpool look to complete the job and follow up on their away goal advantage against Borussia Dortmund in the Europa League. The Anfield side drew 1-1 in their quarter-final first leg and their manager says they can prevail if they are brave and take on the game.

Meanwhile the French football federation (FFF) last night announced that Karim Benzema will not be selected for the country's home Euro 2016 campaign, following his involvement in a sex-tape black mail court case with former team mate Mathieu Valbuena.

Women In Sport

Sonia O'Sullivan's column heads the Women In Sport pages this morning - she's explaining why runners are always ruled by numbers - "Time is much more of an obsession at nearly every level, and you see very little of the more old-fashioned races anymore, that aren't judged by the time."

Rugby

Munster flanker Peter O'Mahony is due to see consultant orthopaedic surgeon Ray Moran at the Santry Sports Clinic this week to evaluate his progress and establish a return date, after he was named on Joe Schmidt's 44 man training squad for the tour to South Africa yesterday. He's joined by four debutants including Connacht's Matt Healy.

Irish rugby will have to keep on waiting for Conor O'Shea - with Italy the next port of call for the man who has spent 15 years coaching abroad. Will a return to home shores be next up on the agenda?"I love my country, but it's, 'I'll just see where my life takes me'."

Boxing

Katie Taylor was the sole Irish female survivor from the European Olympic qualification tournament in Turkey last night - easing her way into the semi-finals, and now just one win from securing her spot in Rio.

Golf

In golf news former world number one Vijay Singh says he will skip the Rio Olympics over Zika virus fears - and concentrate on getting his form back on the US Tour.

What to watch out for

After all the drama in Augusta it's back to the European Tour - with Paul Dunne and Peter Lawrie among the field at the Valderrama Open de Espana.
