Doyle commits future to Wolves

Soccer:Wolves striker Kevin Doyle has signed a new contract to keep him at the club until June 2015. The 28-year-old Republic of Ireland international had two years remaining on his previous deal, but has now put pen to paper on a longer-term agreement to remain at Molineux.

Not for the first time, Doyle had been linked with a move away from Wolves during the latest transfer window but manager Mick McCarthy stressed he had no intention of entertaining offers for the former Cork City player.

Juventus, Arsenal and Liverpool were all reported to be interested in Doyle but the forward is quite happy to remain in the English midlands.

“It’s great news that Kevin has signed the new contract and his future is now secured for another four years,” McCarthy said today. “He has been a key player for us in maintaining our Premier League status over the last two seasons when he has made a major contribution.
