Davis accuses Brown of trying to break his leg

Portsmouth midfielder Sean Davis has accused former Tottenham team-mate Michael Brown of attempting to break his leg.

Portsmouth midfielder Sean Davis has accused former Tottenham team-mate Michael Brown of attempting to break his leg.

Brown, now at Fulham, went in hard on Davis in Saturday's Barclays Premiership match at Craven Cottage and was shown a straight red card.

According to Portsmouth boss Harry Redknapp, the pair "don't like each other", and Davis believes there was malice behind the 74th-minute challenge which earned Brown his marching orders.

"He tried to break my leg," Davis said in the Daily Mirror. "I know because I saw him look at me and I know he tried to do me.

"I didn't want to go down because I didn't want to show he hurt me but he did catch me quite well on the ankle. I think if I'd gone in for it a bit more he could have broken my ankle."

Davis, himself a former Fulham player, was able to continue despite the heavy tackle from Brown and Portsmouth won 3-1 to improve their survival chances.

"We've won the game, he's got sent off so I hold no grudges," said Davis. "But if that's what you have to reduce him to then that's what happens. He's only an average player anyway."
