Derry City 0-1 Cork City: Cork City booked their place in the final of the Setanta Cup where they will meet Irish Premier leaders Glentoran after they defeated Derry City 1-0 on their own turf at the Brandywell tonight.

The game was decided by Timmy Kiely's 67th minute header after he latched onto an inch perfect cross from man-of-the-match and Cork captain Dan Murray.

"It was a great ball in, all I had to do was get my head on it," beamed Kiely after the final whistle. "We're absolutely delighted, it's hard to come up here and get a win, great result."

The game overall wasn't of great quality as both sides cancelled each other out. However Kiely's quality header was the difference and the Leesiders can now look forward to a home fixture in the final.

After the goal the home side were forced to push forward and in the 77th minute  Mark Farren raced onto a through ball as Cork goalkeeper, Mark McNulty, appeared to impede the striker inside the area. However referee David Malcolm waved play on much to the disgust of the Brandywell faithful.

Derry's last throw of the dice to force extra time arrived six minutes from the end when Barry Molloy was set up following a weaving run by Niall McGinn but the midfielder's low shot was easily gathered by McNulty at his near post.

Cork defended manfully with players throwing themselves in front of the ball as if their lives depended on it before Malcolm sounded the final whistle.

This is the fourth time the two sides have met this season and only the first time Cork have been able to record a win against dogged Derry opposition. The result also brings to an end Derry's hopes of a cup treble.

Glentoran defeated the holders Drogheda United 1-0 at United park last night's other semi-final.
