Leinster’s Cian Healy receives two-week suspension

The prop was cited for striking Toulon hooker Guilhem Guirado with his knee

Leinster prop Cian Healy has been suspended for two weeks at an independent disciplinary hearing in London today, after earlier this month being cited for striking Toulon hooker Guilhem Guirado with his knee.

In upholding the citing complaint, the Judicial Officer decided that Healy had committed a reckless act of foul play and he found that the offence was at the low end of World Rugby’s sanctions and selected three weeks as the appropriate entry point.

He then reduced the sanction by one week taking into account the player’s good character and good conduct during the hearing before imposing a suspension of two weeks.

The Ireland prop was originally handed a two-week suspension, but on December 23rd an independent appeal committee ruled the citing should be reheard by a judicial officer.

That means he will be available for Leinster's Champions Cup dead rubbers against Bath and Wasps.
