Tommy Bowe will start in the centre for Ulster when Mark McCall's side get their Magner's League campaign underway against current champions Ospreys at Ravenhill on Friday.
Bowe will start at outside centre with Seamus Mallon inside him, while Mark McCrea and Simon Danielli start on the wings. Veteran David Humphreys is named at outhalf after recovering from injury.
Kieron Dawson returns to the backrow, instead of David Pollock, after missing the narrow friendly defeat to Gloucester 10 days ago. Fit-again Justin Harrison is named among the replacements as cover for locks Tim Barker and Ryan Caldwell.
"Ospreys are always a tough side to come up against even with the World Cup they still have some great players competing. The likes of Gavin Henson who has played at International level is likely to play," said Caldwell ahead of the game today.
"The first match of the season is always tough as you want to get off to a good start. Especially as we have a string of away games after Ospreys we really want to put in a good performance to carry us through and keep the momentum going while we're away.
Leinster will not name their side to face Edinburgh until lunchtime on Friday, but there are some new faces in the squad ahead of Saturday's game at the RDS.
New signings Juan Francisco Gomez, Chris Keane and Stephen Knoop are included in an enlarged squad along with eight full Ireland internationals.
They are; recent arrivals Leo Cullen and Shane Jennings, hooker Bernard Jackman, lock Trevor Hogan, backrow Jamie Heaslip, flanker Keith Gleeson, and backs Rob Kearney and Luke Fitzgerald.
Wallaby Chris Whitaker is also named alongside Gary Brown who scored a hat-trick of tries in the 66-3 victory over Padova.
Jennings and Ross McCarron have yet to prove their fitness but will get every opportunity to do so.
