Longford Town became the first club in the National League to sell the naming rights to their ground yesterday when they unveiled a deal with Clonmel-based logistics firm Flancare.

The value of the deal is said to extend into six figures over the next two and a half years and, as part of it, the club's home at Strokestown Road will be renamed Flancare Park.

All of the money received from the firm, which is due to open a major plant in Longford next year, will be put into developing the club's facilities, which have already undergone a dramatic transformation with the construction, currently well advanced, of a 1,500-seat stand.

Club chairman Adrian Duncan said he was delighted with the deal which, he said, "is just another sign of the progress the club is making on all fronts at the moment".
