Most of today's action in Britain looks set to beat the current onslaught from the weather, providing forecasts prove to be correct. There are no inspections planned at Cheltenham, Doncaster or Haydock.

However, it may only be a temporary reprieve, as meetings throughout next week are under threat from flooding.

Lingfield's meeting is in jeopardy following 16mm of rain Thursday night and a further 6mm yesterday.

Clerk of the course Fergus Cameron said: "We have had a burst of rain after 5.15pm and we will have to hold an inspection in the morning to check that things are okay."

Today's card is the most prestigious jumps meeting of the season at Lingfield, where the going is officially heavy. The fixture features the Centurion Bookmakers December Novices' Chase and the Summit Junior Hurdle, both Grade Two contests.

Cheltenham clerk of the course Simon Claisse said: "We've left the going as soft. We'll have a look first thing tomorrow morning but we're forecast nothing like we were forecast last night."

And there are no problems expected at Haydock, where the going is described as heavy. Clerk of the course Adam Waterworth said: "We're fine - we've moved off the one area we were worried about.

"The forecast is for showers. Last night we had three-quarters of an inch of rain and we don't want another night like that. But if it goes according to the forecast we'll be fine."
