Westmeath advance with easy win over Carlow

Robbie Greville hits two goals as his side reach Leinster under-21 semi-final

Westmeath advanced to meet Dublin in the semi-final of the Leinster Under 21 hurling championship with a facile win over Carlow in Mullingar.

At the end of a scrappy first quarter, Westmeath led by 0-3 to 0-2.

In the 17th minute, Robbie Greville scored a great goal for the home side after he was set up by the outstanding Niall O'Brien.

A second goal arrived five minutes later courtesy of David Lynch, helping Westmeath to a 2-5 to 0-7 lead at the half-time break.

Big impact

With half-time substitute Cathal Scally making a big impact at full forward and O'Brien continuing to direct the attack in great style, Westmeath led by 2-16 to 0-9 with seven minutes remaining and they wrapped up the win with a late goal from Robbie Greville.

Their semi-final against Dublin will take place on June 25th.
