GOLF:HARRISON FRAZAR held the early lead in the Barclays tournament after a flawless seven under par 64 at the Plainfield Country Club in New Jersey.
He was a stroke ahead of veteran Vijay Singh and Jonathan Byrd in the opening event of the four-tournament FedEx Cup play-offs.
Play was suspended early in the first round yesterday due to the threat of lightning, meaning that several of the later starters, including Ireland’s Padraig Harrington and Graeme McDowell, were unable to complete their rounds.
Australian Adam Scott and American JJ Henry shared the lead at five under par when play was halted initially. Scott surged to the top with a first nine that featured just one par along with five birdies, an eagle and two bogeys. Henry was six under par before bogeying the par-three third hole, his 12th, to slip back into a tie for the lead as play was suspended.
