Good Counsel College, new Ross, came away with their first ever cup success when replacement John Finn secured a match-winning try 13 minutes from the end against Sandford Park in this Leinster Senior Cup tie at Gorey.It always looked as if Good Counsel had a real chance of upsetting a more fancied Sandford side after outstanding out-half Gary Conway had put them ahead with a fifth-minute penalty.Sandford rallied and by the 15th minute had gone 6-3 ahead through out-half David Lyons with a penalty and a dropped goal. Good Counsel finished the half strongly and following a scrum close to the line, left winger John Dunne got over for a try.Sandford started the second half assertively. Cormac McNulty crashed through for a try to restore their lead before Finn snatched victory for Good Counsel following a fine backline movement.
