BRETT DOYLE has made a slow start to the domestic season with only three wins under his belt to date. But that's no reflection on the jockey's ability as he's cast his net far and wide of late, being champion jockey in Dubai and having numerous commitments abroad for his boss Clive Brittain.
Doyle has an ideal opportunity to boost his British tally at Yarmouth today, notably aboard Ertlon in the David Stott Handicap.
Brittain's seven-year-old has been a consistent servant over the years and his wins include one over course and distance in 1994.
He was narrowly denied on the all-weather at Lingfield last time, going down by a neck to Resist the Force, and now runs off a 5lb lower mark back on turf.
A front-runner, Ertlon can burn off his rivals, a large number of whom can be safely dismissed, though the in-form Gymcrak Flyer is a threat.
Earlier, Brittain's Our Way has fine prospects of opening his account in a modest race for the Applegate Fillies' Handicap.
She showed promise in maidens last season and the handicapper has given her a chance now, dropping her 8lb since the start of the season.
Doyle also has prospects aboard newcomers Bint Shihama and Sans Rivale in the South Norfolk Caterers Maiden and Repps Selling Stakes respectively plus on Moorbird, fairly weighted in the Somerton Claiming Stakes.
Aidan O'Brien's Danyross (5-2) could manage to finish only fourth of the six runners in the National Stakes at Sand own last evening. The race was won by the 6 to 1 chance Pool Music, trained by Richard Hannon and ridden by Richard Hughes.
Revoque, who disappointed when favourite behind Desert King in the Lexus Irish 2,000 Guineas at the Curragh on Sunday, is reported to have since succumbed to a bout of coughing.
