Galway SFC/ Salthill/Knocknacarra 0-12 Caltra 0-11: Galway senior hurling star Alan Kerins put the disappointment of the All-Ireland defeat behind him to set up the match-winning point for Seán Armstrong in stoppage time at the end of a pulsating Galway senior football semi-final at Tuam Stadium last night.

The game seemed to he heading for draw after Caltra, All-Ireland club champions the season before last, staged a great comeback in the final quarter.

At one stage they trailed by 0-10 to 0-6 playing against the wind in the second half but with Micheál Meehan in inspirational form, they had hauled back the deficit.

Scorers: Salthill/Knocknacarra - M Donnellan, S Rabbitte, S Crowe, S Armstrong (0-2 each); A McDermott, A Kerins, D Burke, M Sheridan (0-1 each); Caltra - M Meehan (0-6, four frees), N Meehan (0-3, frees), J Galvin (0-2)
